The Former President's Policies Pose a Danger to Our Social Fabric.

The national and international initiatives – from the attempted coup previously to latest moves and threats – weaken not only domestic and international jurisprudence. But that’s not all.

These actions endanger the core idea of a civilized world.

The ethical foundation of civilized society is to forestall the dominant from preying upon and using the less powerful. Otherwise, we risk being trapped in a brutish war where survival of the strongest prevails.

This concept is embedded of the Declaration and Constitution. This is also the heart of the postwar international order championed by the America, emphasizing collective action, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

But, it is a fragile construct, easily violated by those who would exploit their power. Maintaining it necessitates that the influential have a sense of duty to abstain from seeking immediate gains, and that the rest of us demand responsibility if they don't.

Absolute power does not equal right. It leads to uncertainty, disruption, and hostilities.

Every time people or corporations or countries that are richer and more powerful prey upon those that are weaker, the structure of civilization weakens. If these actions are allowed to continue, the structure collapses. If not stopped, the world can fall into instability and violence. It has happened before.

Today, we live in a international landscape marked by extreme inequality. Authority and resources are more concentrated than in recent memory. This encourages the privileged to leverage their position against the less fortunate because they perceive themselves as omnipotent.

The wealth of certain ultra-wealthy individuals is almost beyond comprehension. The reach of major corporations in technology, energy, and aerospace extends over a vast portion of the world. AI is could consolidate economic and political clout further. The military might of the leading countries is unprecedented in human history.

Empowered by a compliant faction and a sympathetic high court, the presidency has been turned into the most powerful and unaccountable agent of the state in recent memory.

Put it all together and you perceive the danger.

An unbroken thread ties previous breaches of norms to ongoing menaces. Both were based on the arrogance of invincibility.

One observes a similar pattern in international affairs: in military conflicts, in expansive ambitions, and in the rampant monopolization by massive conglomerates.

But, unfettered might does not create right. It makes for instability, revolution, and war.

Historical evidence demonstrates that frameworks designed to constrain the powerful also safeguard them. If these guardrails are removed, their relentless pursuit for greater influence and riches eventually lead to their downfall – taking down their corporations, nations, or empires. And pave the way for international catastrophe.

This blatant disregard for rules will haunt international stability – and the very idea of civilization – for a long time.
